Basic Moving & Handling

Summary

This course is aimed at staff who will only need to carry out minimal amounts of moving and handling of people and will include theoretical aspects as well as practical participation of manual handling tasks.

Aims

By the end of the course, attendees will have an understanding of theoretical aspects as well as practical manual handling tasks, such as sit to stand transfers and emergency handling situations.

Simulation experience (Minimum of 2 delegates)

Using the Gert simulation suit, you will be able to experience some of the symptoms and effects of:

  • Fraility/old age.
  • Dementia
  • Parkinsons
  • COPD
  • Tinitus
  • Eye conditions, restricting sight
  • Stroke
  • Back Pain/knee pain, kyphosis

This will help you with your own practice when dealing with people who experience these symptoms and conditions.    

This practical workshop is designed to give practical solutions, through experiential learning to moving and handling/daily living tasks
