Boundaries

A workshop exploring the challenges in setting and maintaining professional boundaries between staff/volunteers and service users: Essential for organisations offering care/support services or working with vulnerable people.

Understanding boundaries is important for being able to assert yourself while considering the impact on others. The session will enable learners to reflect on the meaning of boundaries and their positive effects in different organisations.

This workshop is designed to encourage debate and discussion amongst delegates about those “grey areas” of boundary crossings which professionals can accidentally cross, often inadvertently and with the intention of helping the person that is receiving their service.

  • Consider the positive and negative effects of boundaries
  • Explore ways of creating and holding boundaries
  • Thinking about business impacts, reputational damage and publicity
  • How to navigate the electronic world as a professional including social media
