This comprehensive two-day course equips healthcare professionals with the knowledge, skills and confidence to deliver high-quality care to individuals approaching the end of life.
The training provides a practical, evidence-based approach to recognising deterioration, supporting patients and families, and managing care safely and compassionately.
Includes Syringe Driver training and Verification of Death (theory and practical).

Course Structure
This is a 2-day, face-to-face course. Attendance on both days is mandatory, as the programme includes both theoretical learning and practical competency-based sessions.
Course Content
Day 1 – Theory
- Recognising expected vs unexpected death
- National guidance (WHO, NICE, GSF)
- End of life identification and planning
- Symptom recognition and management
- Syringe driver introduction
- Verification of Death (theory)
Day 2 – Practical
- Syringe driver setup and use
- Medication and pharmacology
- Cannulation (Saf‑T‑Intima)
- Legal and ethical responsibilities
- Verification of Death (practical)
